Transferring to the Lower Nicola Indian Band (LNIB)
LNIB has a Band Transfer Policy which provides guidelines and a process for those interested in transferring their membership to LNIB. This policy describes criteria for eligibility for transfer into LNIB and provides steps for applicants to carry out prior to consideration by LNIB Membership for transfer.
See below for information regarding the status of LNIB Band Transfers and activities regarding the 2013 LNIB Band Transfer Policy.
Winter 2021: *LNIB Transfer Process ON HOLD*
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, activities related to Band Transfers into LNIB have been put on hold until further notice.
Requirements under the current LNIB Band Transfer Policy include attendance at in-person meetings and events, which is not possible at this time. Current applicants are being notified of this situation, and new applications will not be reviewed at this time.
Winter 2021: *LNIB Transfer Policy Under Review*
Staff are utilizing this time of physical distancing, which has put all transfers on hold, to review the current 2013 LNIB Band Transfer Policy for proposed amendments. Proposed amendments will aim to provide greater clarity and to allow for more inclusive voting options.
In the end, we hope to have a stronger and clearer Policy that aligns with LNIB’s values and allows for greater Band Member participation.
