Princess Day - 8Helping to ensure that the health and well-being of our members is one of our most important priorities. Health and well-being encompasses all aspects of ourselves, including emotional, spiritual, psychological and physical all working in synchrony .

We deliver most of our health and social development programs out of our LNIB Health Centre located in Shulus neighbourhood, and close to most of LNIB’s facilities, at #230 Highway 8 West. The Health Centre has a staff of 14, who provide with a wide range of health and social counselling  programs and services that all work to promote healthy lifestyle choices. We are active members of the BC FN Health Authority. The current array of health programs and services provided at the Health Centre include:

Patient travel:  To be eligible to receive medical transportation benefits under the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program, a person must be:

  1. A registered Indian according to the Indian Act; or
  2. An Inuk recognized by one of the Inuit Land Claim organizations - Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, Makivik Corporation or Labrador Inuit For Inuit residing outside of their land claim settlement area, a letter of recognition from one of the Inuit claim organizations and a long form birth certificate are required; or
  3. An infant up to one year old of an eligible parent; and
  4. Currently registered or eligible for registration, under a provincial or territorial health insurance Uninsured Health Benefits
